Weekly Celebretards: Boy George and Avril Lavigne

What do Boy George and Avril Lavigne have in common?

Boy George is denied entry to the US and Avril\'s fans are cheating their way to the top

Aside from their obvious weird dressing styles, we have chosen them as the first artists for our new weekly article – aptly named Weekly Celebretards!

Here we go…

Boy George was all set for his N. America summer tour. That’s until the United States denied him entry. Again.

Ouch.

The 47 year old DJ was set to perform for 24 nights in the United States starting July 11th at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada. The last stop would have been at the House of Blues in Dallas on August 23rd.

“At the moment, Boy George cannot come to the United States of America because he has been refused permission to enter by the USA Administration,” said a statement from his management. “This is not in respect of anything he has done in the past but because he is facing a trial in November in London for something that happened in April last year.”

Uhm, correct me if I’m wrong (which I am not by the way), but isn’t an incident in April something he has done in the past?!

Apparently, Mr. George (real name George Alan O’Dowd) was arrested April 30th of last year after a 28 year old Norwegian male escort accused the artist of false imprisonment and assault. The incident happened in Boy George’s East London flat. The accusing party, Mr. Audun Carlsen said he was chained and threatened by the artist. The young man went there as a “photo model.” Clothed photo model? Probably not.

And as for the “other” things Boy George had done in the past – those that had something to do with the authorities:

There are a lot – starting from early in his career – but most recent was October of last year, when the artist was sued by a club promoter for canceling an appearance with just ten day’s notice prior to the event. We can’t blame Boy George for that – he was in the custody of the authorities for cocaine possession. The promoter sued for £31,000 as compensation for earnings lost.

If you don’t know who Boy George is then let me refresh your memory:

He was the former frontman of defunct 80s band Culture Club. Their most notable hit was the song “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?,” which reached the top spot in 16 countries (only No.2 in the United States). Then there was “Karma Chameleon” which was also a big hit internationally (their first and only No.1 song in the United States). Soon the band had to dissolve as Boy George developed a heroin addiction.

Mr. O’Dowd immediately went solo even with an apparent drug addiction problem. He never got to the same level that his band did. Especially since he cannot travel to countries like the United States due to drug related arrests. This was 20 years ago, and yet it only feels like yesterday…

“George’s lawyers in London have absolutely forbidden us to speak about the facts of that case and all I can say is that George is astounded at the decision and is having lawyers here in the States look at it in the hope that someone will change their mind,” said recently released statement.

“George really would love to come to America and repay his American fans loyalty and that is why we are asking the US Authorities to reconsider their decision.”

As for our other Celebretard…

Avril Lavigne is probably the most dissed pop artist of this generation. And with good reason. Aside from her bad music, and worse clothing, she is the most delusional popstar ever! She thinks she’s good.

But I pity more those who actually believe her.

A fansite dedicated to the popstartrash called Avril Bandaids have just recently pulled the most backward move ever made in the history of music artist appreciation. You see, Avril’s “Girlfriend” video on YouTube is currently the site’s 2nd most watched of all time. Yes, I am that surprised, too! Maybe this scam has been going on longer that anyone has noticed. These morons over at the said fansite made a page that would automatically reload the video every 15 seconds – thus accumulating hits like flies on shit – figuratively and literally.

After creating the dubious page, they sent out a mass email to fans asking them to keep a browser window open all day with the page in it:

Girlfriend currently has 88,068,719 views and the #1 video Evolution of Dance has 89,046,834 views. Which means we’re just until 1 million views away from taking #1 and 12 million views from hitting the 100,000,000 mark. So what we’re attempting won’t be easy but…. Bahh who am I kidding? Of course it will be easy because we have a secret weapon

Check out http://www.avrilbandaids.com/youtubeviewer.html – This page has been specially designed to kick some serious YouTube butt.

Every 15 seconds this page will automatically refresh adding 1 view to Girlfriend’s YouTube total each time it does. Keep this page open while you browse the internet, study for exams, or even sleep. For extra viewing power, open up two or more browser windows at this page!

The views will start to add up faster than you can even imagine. If we had 86 people keeping two windows open for 10 days straight, we would already be at 10,000,000 views.

Here is the current count. The “Girlfriend” video is still ranked second (thankfully) to Judson Laipply’s “Evolution of Dance” that has 89,772,058 hits. Their margin currently stands at 789,122. The trick worked apparently. But now that the cheat is exposed, I bet people from YouTube aren’t too happy about it – made them look stupid if you ask me. And I bet they’re doing something to prevent the cheat from working.

“Evolution of Dance” deserves to be the most watched YouTube video of all time. It’s entertaining, creative, and REAL. Can’t say the same about “Girlfriend” – the song is repetitive and its lyrics are dumb; the video had Avril in it. It’s boring, shallow, and FAKE.

We hope this cheat does not work. I approve of cheating if the end result would be for the common good (we can have a long discussion about this some other time). This is the exact opposite. If successful, this will definitely make Avril’s already big and spacious head even bigger – which means more attempts at singing – which means more concerts and tours – which means spreading bad music all over the world!

But even if it did work, we all know how it happened so it’s bogus nonetheless.

Watch out for next week’s article! I’ll give an update on our YouTube “situation.”
