Another American Idol Says Goodbye
It is sad to hear that another American Idol had been axed, that it didn’t cross too many mind over the week to vote for Ramiele Malubay.
The minuscule singer had been eliminated from American Idol last Wednesday after giving a just satisfactory performance with a Dolly Parton song of her choice on a performance show that focused ditties penned by the country-music icon.
Even though she lost, Paula Abdul said that she is proud of Malubay after her solid yet unexciting take on “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind†and Randy Jackson was not at all mad at her afterwards, most of the millions of votes were given to the other eight contestants still having their place in the contest.
She is a super cute 20 year old girl from Miramar Fla, Parton said “Finally, someone my size†when Malubay approached the piano during her rehearsals who wept with finalist Kristy Lee Cook’s arms when she heard the news.
Cook was there to give comfort to Malubay because she too was I the bottom three. She was joined by the others like Brook White, who was also in the danger zone for the first time when she tried a song entitled “Joleneâ€, which sounded ok but according to Simon Cowell was that it was lacking emotion.
The Brit noted, and he put a little blame on the band as well, “I thought all of you looked very odd together as a groupâ€.
Relieved that they weren’t counted in the danger zone would be Syesha Mercado and Jason Castro, both were on the bottom feeders last week.
Mercado made a decision to sing “I Will Always Love You†part of which skillfully reflected the simplicity of Parton’s version while the other half failed to compare or to be in par with singing Whitney Houston’s modern-day classic was difficult and is risky. Randy was a never a fan of Whitney Houston impersonators, however the song’s ex factor worked for her favor.
And Castro was strumming away to a seeming hit “Travelin Thru†in the park, putting in one of his greater vocal skills to date and was able to capture the message of the song. However, as always Simon the ultimate perfectionist hated it.
He said, “If this had been the first time I’d seen you or heard you, I wouldn’t get it,” making him lose his ticket to Dollywood in the process. But good enough, it was the armchair critics that Castro really had to impress and he had lived to grin another day.
On the other side of the rope, the march has started to stardom for the continuation of the fearsome foursome.
Later that evening David Cook had to be rushed to the hospital to be treated for high blood pressure, after rocking the house with one of Parton’s contemporary tunes, the blue grassed tinged “Little Sparrow†from the 2001 album of the same name.
Simon says, “If you can make a song about sparrows good, which actually you did, congratulations,” Simon being a country enthusiast. Just like when Simon complained about last year’s Kenny Roger’s Night.
Cook gave his fans quite a scare, Cook who was said to be suffering from anxiety brought about by joining American Idol and also family issues, but all in all he seems just fine. A doctor in a Medical Center in Cedars-Sinai gave him medication to lower his blood pressure and this 25 year old rocker had to rest up as he was sent up to his hotel.
On Wednesday Cook was back on stage, have little things to worry about when he such a strong showing. He told Ryan Seacrest, “I’m cool, I’m not going anywhereâ€.
Simon also mocked Carly Smithson’s wardrobe or the person who dressed like a boy at least. Tell her that she should start looking like a star from now on.
Even if she didn’t’ look like one, at least she sounded like it while she was belting “Here You Come Againâ€.
David Archuleta was the next who Simon commented saying “absolutely on the money†after she sang “Smoky Mountain Memories†a version where she did all she could do to keep her from crying while in her rehearsal.
In Michael Johns end, all was well, that was rewarded saying that it was one of his best performances at the time having a soulful and textured rendition of “It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right†as being the first contestant to be announced as unequivocally safe.
Parton didn’t have anything much to say to either of the contestants this week, while she is on hand with her single “Jesus & Gravity†of her new album entitled Backwoods Barbie.
By next week no one will get the boot on Wednesday as the Idols will give back to charity extravaganza will be what’s “happeningâ€.
Ellen DeGeneres as it turns out had to drop out from co-hosting the event with Seacrest due to what she calls to be “production constraintsâ€, and these is ranging from Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon to Robin Williams and Billy Crystal are on board to participate either on video or live, other Idols such as Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughty are ready to perform.
After which, in two weeks worth of votes have been tallied, someone is deemed to go on Thursday, Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks will perform their single “No Airâ€, which will sadly take effect letting go of one of the eight finalists that’s remaining.
