Heath Ledger’s hometown has started preparing since Monday for the arrival of Heath Ledger’s remains as well as speaking out dismay when speculations arose that the Actor had been using drugs.

Heath Ledger is said to be “probably the highest-profile star who’s ever come out of Perth,” by a film critic.

Funeral arrangements or the late-costar have not been announced but his body is expected to be brought back to Perth by his family this week. Two memorial services had been attended by his family members in Los Angeles.

An Australian Newspaper reported that Heath Ledger’s body will buried beside his grandparents in a family plot in Perth.

Ledger, 28, was found dead in his New York City apartment last January 22. Authorities speculate a drug overdose; however the cause of his death is still unknown and has not been announced due to investigator’s pending case.

Residents from his hometown expressed grief and at the same time were outraged by rumors spreading that he was a drug user.

A 58-year-old catering supervisor at Royal Perth Hospital said, “If a person dies, let him go in peace. All this rubbish they bring up about drugs and everything else, I think it’s a lot of rubbish,”

A video taken two years ago added to the speculation as there was footage of Ledger being in a Hollywood Hotel party where drugs were being taken.

A 28-year-old travel agency manager said, “I think it’s disgusting how the media has played it out,”
