Perez Hilton a celeb blogger will take home a nearly nearly $85,000 to reimburse his legal costs in a slander lawsuit brought by Lindsay Lohan’s.
Mario Lavandeira (Hilton’s real name), can receive an additional $2,000 if he desires it, as imposed by Superior Court Judge Elihu M. Berle last Wednesday.
“Perez Hilton will take steps to make sure every dime is collected,” said his lawyer, Bryan J. Freedman. “This should make one careful before filing a lawsuit against him.”
Hilton was sued last year by Samantha Ronson. She was a passenger in Lilo’s car when it crashed into a tree in Beverly Hills in May. She filed a case against the blogger for announcing on his website an account from another blog sharing that she planted cocaine found in Lohan’s car.
Hilton was absolved by the judge and was removed from the lawsuit last November after the blogger’s attorneys defended that he was cosseted by free speech rights.
David M. Bass- Ronson’s attorney, fruitlessly disputed that Hilton’s lawyers’ fees were too much and that he should get no more than $13,400 to recuperate his legal expenses.
Ronson’s attorney also added that he was taking into consideration whether to plot further legal action.
“We would like an opportunity for the court to consider all the facts,” he said.
