There’s no surprise that the influential reality series Survivor is still in existence and certainly is keeping up to its title.

Destined to stay on air until at least mid-2009, following executive producer Mark Burnett and US network CBS signed an agreement to create two more cycles, that’s summing up to a total number of enduring 18 seasons!

That means an additional of 200 Americans who will have to outwitted, outplayed and outlasted one another for US$1 million pot money.

Jeff Probst, Survivor‘s host has also inked on the contract that will maximize his appearance on the series through its18th season. In other words, he would have to put out something like 250 more torches.

Even though Survivor’s current seasons have not attained the impressive viewer numbers the show earned in its glory days, its ratings in the US are still quite strong, particularly for a show that has been on TV for almost eight years.

Survivor is a show that defies ratings gravity,” Ghen Maynard, CBS’s head of reality informed Variety, highlighting the show’s staying power to the “creativity and passion” of Burnett, Probst and Survivor’s production team.
