The much awaited 50th Grammy Awards, music industry’s Academy awards equivalent will kick off in Los Angeles Sunday with much talked about tabloid darling British soul singer Amy Winehouse and rapper Kanye West anticipated to lead the event.

Amy Winehouse, who will be conducting her participation at the ceremony via satellite from London, has six award nods in top categories including record, album and song of the year, best new artist, best pop vocal album and best female pop vocalist.

The only person ahead of her is rapper Kanye West, with eight award nominations, counting the coveted album of the year prize for his Graduation.
