Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2

July 3, 2008

Season 2 is already in the works

We are now only two months away from the much awaited second season of “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

We can’t wait. Thankfully cast members were more than welcome to spill out a few spoilers here and there. Yup. We said SPOILERS. So if you want to keep the mystery and excitement of the second season at its peak level, then this is not a read for you. But if you just can’t resist having a little sneak peak then go right ahead. We promise you won’t regret it.

Cromartie is Here to Stay

Garret Dillahunt says that his character, the annoying T 888 model, will be coming back for more beating.

“Cromartie’s back big-time. They made me a series regular,” says the actor.

For those who have already forgotten, the last episode of season one leaves with FBI Agent James Ellison (played by actor Richard T. Jones) discovering the Cromartie has been disguising himself as an FBI Agent.

“I like him. They’re really not bad guys - they’re doing their job. He has no hate in him. He’s like: ‘Look, it’s my job; sorry… Gotta snap your neck,’ ” added Garret.

Cameron Explodes

According to the ever cute Summer Glau (our favorite actress who plays our favorite character in the series), Cameron (the series terminator who was sent to protect John Connor) won’t be the same cutesy contradiction she was in the first season.

“Cameron definitely has some issues after the explosion,” Summer said. “And everybody changes after the first episode.”

Uh oh. We don’t like the sound of that. But it was inevitable. The first season saw a developing terminator in Cameron. Like they said, she was different – the terminator model Summer Glau portrays is actually learning to become more and more human with every episode. She was becoming more “emotional” - if that was even possible.

New Character!

Yes, an exciting new character is welcomed with the new season – played by none other than Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson!

According to the show’s creator Josh Friedman, “Shirley and Christine (his wife) are actually old friends, so it’s kind of cheating. I would tell Christine, ‘Oh, you’re having lunch with Shirley, tell her I want her on the show.’ We had no idea what to do with her. We just thought it’d be fun to have her. Then this year, I had written this part and I thought, let’s see if she can come in and do it. But it’s a pretty big part, so Shirley - like anybody else - had to go through the whole audition process.”

Sound exciting! This will be her first gig as an actress. Although it should be noted that she is currently working on a movie with Terence Howard, and Alan Cumming entitled itW.

In Terminator, Ms. Manson will portray Catherine Weaver, head of a “high-tech company.” Not much info has been given away about the character. We’ll see if she ends up helping Sarah as one of the good guys or be one of those hindering the trio’s mission to save humanity – although I doubt that she becomes a protagonist since Shirley Manson gives out that villainous vibe.

Creative Genius

There was a good question thrown in there by E! to creator Josh Friedman. He was asked if Cameron had any sense of femininity, to which he replied:

“I think sometimes she does when it suits her. Last year she learned how to paint her nails, and she’s learned how to wear miniskirts and exploit her legs for attention.”

Then he was asked if those moments in the series when Cameron seemed to be feeling emotions indicated that she was truly having them, to which he answered:

“I think if there were somebody else in John’s life that could cause strategic problems, I think that’s almost like jealousy, and she would work to eliminate that threat. I think we may see some of that this year.”

We are glad to say that Josh’s original plan for the series is still the basis of the second season. He says, “I had a pretty good idea of where the first season was going, and we’re still using a lot of that material in the second season - we’re in the frame work I thought about two years ago.”

We can’t wait to see how this development in Cameron’s character pans out. And now that we’ve learned a few chunks here and there, two months seems like a looong wait.
