Mariah Carey is Engaged to Nick Cannon

Mimi (Mariah’s new monicker for herself) loves her bling. But something tells us that her newest ice is more than just an accessory.

Mariah Carey flashed around a big diamond wedding ring on her ring finger at the TriBeCa Film Festival (pictured above). Rumors have been swirling around that the successful singer / songwriter is engaged to young comedian actor / rapper / producer Nick Cannon.

Mimi, who recently turned 38 last March has been seen around dating (unconfirmed by both parties) young Nick Cannon since they met on the set of her last video for her new album E = MC². Both celebs attended the TriBeCa Film Festival in New York to promote their own movies. Just a tiny trivia tidbit (because I just have so much info to share! haha), TriBeCa is short for Triangle Below Canal Street - where the neighborhood is located.

Nick Cannon, who is only 27 years of age, came to the film festival for his latest flick entitled “Ball Don’t Lie.” Mariah Carey came for her latest starring role in the movie “Tennessee.” Look at how cool Nick Cannon looks in this getup - Not!

According to eyewitnesses, the two “lovers” were seen holding hands at one of the festival’s after parties at the Cadillac Lounge at Tenjune (Nick was supposed to be at another after party (his movie’s), but decided to go to Mimi’s movie’s after party instead). As evident in the picture above, Mimi wasn’t at all shy about the bling. If you study her actions closely, you will also come to a conclusion that she was gladly showing off the huge diamond for everyone in the event to see.

But when asked during an interview prior to the event, Mimi had nothing to say - except that she only had eyes for one male: Jack - her Jack Russell terrier.

“I’m in love with my dog. He is my special someone. I love spending time with him.”

Oh, jack. You dog you!

One of the eyewitnesses had this to say: “Mariah and Nick looked really cozy. They were cuddling and made sure they held hands all night. Mariah looked really proud to be there with Nick, and he seemed to be having a great time.”

No one’s going to get anything about whatever’s going on except for those bling shots. Mimi is known to keep relationships under wraps. A close insider says “Mariah is the master when it comes to keeping her relationships secret. Even though she’s a big star, she likes to keep her private life to herself.”

A recent report from People magazine said that the couple took a private jet into Las Vegas just last April 14, and the two were seen by eyewitnesses getting “intimate” in a VIP section of a nightclub - wow, those sources are VIP’s too, huh?

Nick Cannon was set to deejay for Planet Hollywood Las Vegas and brought his trophy girlfriend with him. Mimi was seen whispering something into Nick’s ear just before he took his spot with the turntables. And when Nick put on Jay-Z’s “Public Service Announcement,” he emphatically sang along with the lyrics saying: “I got the hottest chick in the game.”

After the TriBeCa incident, Nick Cannon was interviewed by MTV during one of his promotional gigs for his new movie.

“I can’t even know what to say. [Mariah] is probably the most festive, remarkable person I’ve ever met. Good friend.”

“Rumors happen. They do,” he added.

We all know that Mariah Carey has been married before. And that union had double the gap in years so she really isn’t new to the old & young hookup thing.

Carey met Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola at a party way back in 1988. She was just a backup singer for Puerto Rican freestyle singer Brenda K. Starr then. Starr then gave the exec Carey’s demo tape as he was leaving the said party.

Mottola was impressed and immediately returned to the party find Carey, which had already left. To make the story short, Mottola tracked Carey down until he got her to sign a recording contract.

Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola became romantically involved during the making of her debut album. Despite the fact that he was 20 years her senior, the two eventually got married in June of 1993. Five years later, they divorced.

As for Nick - no, he wasn’t married before. But he did get engaged. Just last year, he called off his engagement to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks. They were reportedly married way before the news of the engagement. And when they did get engaged, it was called off for some reason - which is probably cheating!

Before Selita he was dating another hot R&B singer in Christina Milian - which did catch him cheating: she said in an interview with Blender that she discovered his infidelity from checking his Sidekick.

He also dated celeb sex tape star Kim Kardashian.

Nick and Mimi are rumored to again travel together for next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
